BMC Helix ITOM (IT Operations Management) is BMC's SaaS-based AIOps and IT operations platform. It competes directly with ServiceNow ITOM and provides discovery, event management, and service health monitoring.

Helix Discovery
Automated CI discovery via:
- Scanning Discovery — agent-less, IP-range based (Windows WMI, Linux SSH, SNMP)
- Agent-Based Discovery — BMC Client Management agent for real-time updates
- Cloud Discovery — native AWS, Azure, GCP API integration
Output: Populated CMDB with relationships (equivalent to ServiceNow Discovery).
Helix Operations Management
Event management and correlation:
- Ingests events from monitoring tools (Nagios, Dynatrace, Prometheus, SNMP traps)
- Deduplicates and correlates events using AI-based clustering
- Creates Incidents in Helix ITSM or third-party platforms via webhook/API
- Provides topology-aware event suppression (maintenance windows)
Helix AIOps
AI-driven operations:
- Situation clustering — groups related events into Situations (similar to Moogsoft)
- Probable cause analysis — identifies the likely root cause CI
- Predictive analytics — forecasts capacity issues before they become incidents
- Auto-remediation — triggers runbooks via BMC TrueSight Orchestration
