Key Components

Helix Discovery

Automated CI discovery via:

  • Scanning Discovery — agent-less, IP-range based (Windows WMI, Linux SSH, SNMP)
  • Agent-Based Discovery — BMC Client Management agent for real-time updates
  • Cloud Discovery — native AWS, Azure, GCP API integration

Output: Populated CMDB with relationships (equivalent to ServiceNow Discovery).

Helix Operations Management

Event management and correlation:

  • Ingests events from monitoring tools (Nagios, Dynatrace, Prometheus, SNMP traps)
  • Deduplicates and correlates events using AI-based clustering
  • Creates Incidents in Helix ITSM or third-party platforms via webhook/API
  • Provides topology-aware event suppression (maintenance windows)

Helix AIOps

AI-driven operations:

  • Situation clustering — groups related events into Situations (similar to Moogsoft)
  • Probable cause analysis — identifies the likely root cause CI
  • Predictive analytics — forecasts capacity issues before they become incidents
  • Auto-remediation — triggers runbooks via BMC TrueSight Orchestration
